STAYNER ARTS FEST

Many vendors have already been booked but vendor applications are still being accepted. Please Contact Marion Spellman at 705-428-2043 if you are interested in being a vendor, or for more info. Spots are moving fast so call today!
STAYNER BUSINESS CRAWL
Unfortunately, the Stayner Business Crawl has been cancelled this year. The event Chair, Kelly Kramer, will be unable to undertake this project on her own, and a co-chair could not been found.
ROXODUS
Kat Salvador reported on her conversation with a Roxodus representative of some of the event details for vendors. It was clarified that the free vendor booths for Clearview Township businesses are for artisan-type booths only. A general retail store would therefore not be eligible for a free booth, nor are any food vendors. Unfortunately, this is different information from what was previously disseminated by the organizers.
All vendor booths will need to be set-up on Wednesday and torn down on Monday of event week and vendors will have an alternate route to access the grounds. No cash will be exchanged on the Roxodus grounds; all transactions will be done through an electronic payment system called Intellitix, which uses wristbands pre-loaded with a patron’s money, which they tap for payment. Each vendor will have an account with the system and will be able to track all transactions.
The event weekend will be as environmentally friendly as possible with no plastic straws allowed, no sales of water bottles allowed and only recyclable containers used.
DIGITAL SIGN
It was moved and carried to transfer $30,000 of the designated digital sign money, which the Chamber has been saving for the past several years, over to Clearview Township for implementation of the digital sign. It was also decided that John Squire Sr. and Larry Culham would represent the Chamber on collaboration of the project with the Township, and will have input on the design, location and approval of the sign. John and Larry will report back to the Chamber from time to time on the project.
COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN
During a discussion by the Chamber Executive in regard to what the Chamber could apply for with the Community Improvement Plan, it became apparent that some clarification that needed to take place on what the Chamber could apply for and what was under the Township’s purview. Mara Burton, the contact for the CIP grant at Clearview Township, was contacted for information. She advised the Township has improvements for downtown Stayner in its budget for this year for items such as benches, lights and landscaping. Kat Salvador and Charley Lewis will meet with Mara Burton to discuss their ideas and report back at the next meeting on what is being planned for upgrades this year.
DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION
Tamara Culham and Lisa Squire have taken on a relationship with Clearview Township as Chamber representatives for the downtown revitalization project. Their goal is to meet with the Clearview Township Council and present the Chamber’s ideas for revitalization, so we can be more involved in the project. Going forward, the Chamber will aim to report to the Council more regularly to stay involved and informed on local projects.
If you have any ideas about the downtown revitalization plan, please contact Tamara Culham at
tamaraculham@gmail.com or Lisa Squire at
lisa.squire@homehardware.ca.
TRAIL EXPANSION
Clearview Township has asked the Stayner Chamber for a letter of support for their ‘Trails Connecting Communities’ proposal. They would like to expand the Collingwood-Clearview Train Trail from Highway 26 to Superior Street in Stayner. The Collingwood Clearview Train Trail is a beautiful, well-maintained trail that provides a direct connection to and from downtown Collingwood for cyclists, hikers, and snowmobilers in the winter. This trail connection will further expand the overall Clearview Trail Network by linking to the existing Warrington Rd. Trail in Stayner that will eventually connect to New Lowell and then beyond to Essa Township.
The Chamber voted to provide the letter to the Township as requested.
SUMMER STUDENT
The Stayner Chamber has once again been approved for a Federal Government grant for a summer student. We have been approved for 280 hours and $4,430 for a summer student. The Chamber will cover the remaining cost.
