ONTARIO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CONVENTION AND AGM
Interim Vice-President Charley Lewis attended the OCC Convention and AGM a few weeks ago. She reported that it was a great but exhausting experience of note taking. She reported that the two most positive things she came back from the conference with was:

  1. Network connections – We now have connections to other nearby Chambers to share ideas with and to gain knowledge from.
  1. Resolutions – The focus of a Resolution is to come up with an idea for change that we wish to implement on a provincial level. More specifically, what we could do as a Chamber to make more of an impact for our businesses or in our community that would need to be changed provincially?  A Chamber’s resolution is presented at the OCC AGM and voted upon.  If the resolution gets a majority vote, it moves forward to be presented to the Government.

WITCHES WALK
The Witches Walk organizers Tamara Culham and Lisa Squire are already working on this year’s event.  They are requesting an increased budget of $1,000 this year (up from $600 last year) for the Stayner Chamber’s commitment.  The additional funds will be put towards increasing the reach of attendees from outside the community and to sell more passports.  For reference, last year’s Witches Walk had 250 passports purchased, 92 prizes donated and 12,600 points of contact for our downtown businesses.

The $1,000 budget request will be voted upon at the next Chamber meeting on June 18th.  If you have an opinion about the increased budget of this event, please come to the next meeting to vote on the movement!
