3. Answers to the Summer Student questions from the last meeting. Q. The Chamber pays our summer student minimum wage, which is less than what the Township pays for theirs. Please confirm that the money the Chamber will pay to the Township for the summer student hours will be based on minimum wage. A. Yes it will be based on Minimum wages only, not Clearview wages
Q. Please clarify how the amount the Chamber pays to the Township for the student will be calculated. (e.g. Total student hrs at minimum wage, minus the Government grant?) A. The original intent was to use last year’s Chamber portion paid out. If we prefer a technical formula, then it will be: One total student hours for the summer X minimum wages + in-lieu benefits & vacation – government grant portion). We also have to consider the vacation and in lieu benefits as well. It can get complicated, hence perhaps a set average amount (while not adding any more expenses to the Chamber).
Example: Chamber paid Salary expenses of $6,500 in 2017, $7,000 in 2018, $7,500 in 2019. We can easily determine and invoice the Chamber: $8,000 in 2020. We were hoping to see that pattern/amounts to come up with an amount together.
Ramona and Terry Vachon have been put in touch with each other to discuss the best way forward.
Q. When will the Chamber be invoiced for the Summer Student fees? The preferred time discussed at our meeting was after the summer. A. September 2020.
4. Business of the Month Facebook Rules
A complaint came to the Chamber about the most recent Business of the Month post. Sutton on the Bay Realty was Business of the Month a few months ago and this month Charely Lewis, a realtor for Sutton on the Bay Realty who holds an independent membership on the Chamber, is Business of the Month. It is felt that Sutton on the Bay Realty has now been allowed Business of the Month status twice within the 3-year restriction period.
The Executive discussed this issue at length and made the decision that all realtors who hold an independent membership from their realty company on the Chamber are allowed to be Business of the Month, with the following restriction:
The realty company and the independent realtor may not be Business of the Month within 4 months of each other
Scheduling of the Business of the Month posts are solely up to the discretion of the person responsible for the posts
