Patios
Due to COVID-19, the rules for patios have been slightly relaxed but are still involved. If you would like more information on having a patio, please contact Dan Perrault, Deputy Director of Public Works at dperrault@clearview.ca or 705-428-6230 ext. 230.
The Clearview Chamber discussed the lack of space in downtown Stayner to have patios and thought maybe we could create communal patios in some spaces. Unfortunately, the issues were so complex (liability, funding, cleaning, etc.) it was not feasible to even approach the property owners with the idea. Instead, we would like to encourage all businesses in our downtowns to put out small bistro tables and chairs, benches, or whatever small seating you have available, outside your store so all of downtown has seating for people who wish to rest, eat or drink outside. The whole town will look ‘open’ each day with the seating visible outside the stores.
Stayner Market
The Clearview Chamber is trying to provide a market in Stayner to fill the void of the Township not being able to provide the Music, Market & Park It this year. Unfortunately, very few vendors have expressed interest so far. If you know of any vendors who might be interested in the Stayner Market, please ask them to contact us!
We are looking for some Growers, Producers and Artisans! Join us for a Night Market this summer in Stayner. Every Friday night from 4-8 Starting (Location and date to be confirmed once approved from health unit). If you are interested please email Cayleigh Jago at hillbillyacrescanada@gmail.com for more information.
Full time and Part-Time Positions are available for the season.
Downtown Stayner Decorations
As there will be no flowers in downtown Stayner this year due to the lack of staff to help put out the planters and water them throughout the summer, the Chamber has purchased tin windmills from Billy Hill Pine that will be affixed to the light posts to add some colour to downtown. The windmills have already been purchased and painted, and will be put on the poles in the next few days.
If you would like to volunteer to help put up the windmills, please let us know at clearviewchamber@gmail.com.
Joint Business Stakeholders Meeting #2
Clearview Township, the Creemore BIA, and the Clearview Chamber of Commerce held our second joint Business Stakeholders Meeting in June. Below are the updates from this meeting.
- There was very good feedback from the Business Re-opening Tool Kits. Amanda Murray (amurray@clearview.ca) will work one-on-one with any additional businesses looking for kits or more supplies.
- Amanda will update the Accommodations page on the Discover Clearview website to list the B&B’s that are open this season and continue to monitor.
- Support for restaurants will be in the form of the #smalltownhospitality and #localforlunch campaign, urging people to eat local for lunch and post photos with the hashtags.
- A long discussion re: patios and assistance for our members in that regard (see patio update above).
- Community & County Resources:
- Digital Main Street – County of Simcoe
- South Georgian Bay Tourism – Municipal Funding
- Operation Implementation Program – RTO7
- The Chamber suggested that Clearview Township considers creating an annual Business Licence (for a VERY small fee) that businesses must pay each year so there is a central database of contact information for all businesses. This will provide fairly up to date information on which businesses are still open and their contact information. It will allow the Township ease of access to a central database in order to communicate emergency, educational, and general information to all businesses quickly and efficiently.
Please mark Wednesday, July 15th on the calendar for the next General Chamber Meeting!
