FEEDBACK NEEDED: IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL BUSINESS CRAWL?
Dear Chamber Businesses,
The Executive Board has been discussing the pros and cons of the Business Crawl being in-person, virtual, or not happening at all this year. We would love your feedback to help decide how to proceed!
In-Person Crawl: The in-person Business Crawl is geared toward drawing new people to your store. Businesses involved in the event will be part of a passport booklet that participants must have stamped when they enter your business. A percentage of the businesses on the passport must be stamped in order for participants to be eligible for a cashPrize Draw. The cost for members to participate will be approximately $150 and the event would run for approximately 2 weeks.
Virtual Crawl: The virtual Business Crawl would take place over a month on Facebook and focus on approx. 5 businesses per week. The businesses would post their own content to the Facebook event page on their respective weeks. Businesses would pay a fee (amount to be decided) to be part of the Crawl and would also include one gift item to be put into a gift basket. Anyone who likes or comments on a post will be put into a weekly draw for the gift basket.
Concerns:
The Executive is concerned that if we go ahead with the in-person crawl, we could potentially lose the money paid toward the passport printing. If a second wave of COVID occurs and restrictions are once again imposed on businesses, the participants money would be returned but the graphics and printing money would have already been spent. There is a very slim margine of funds this year.
The concern for the virtual crawl is that people aren’t interested in doing anything virtually right now. Businesses are open so people want to be out in the community. People have been doing virtual events and meetings for 5 months and no longer wish to engage in online events.
